Number Theory Seminar: Kumar Murty

  • Date: 08/16/2013

Lecturer(s):
Kumar Murty, University of Toronto
Location:

University of Lethbridge

Topic:

Splitting of Abelian Variables

Description:

It is possible for a simple Abelian variety to factor mod p for every prime p. This is similar to the phenomenon of the irreducible pol-ynomial over the integers becoming reducible when reduced modulo any prime. We study this problem, especially its relation to monodromy. This is joint work with Ying Zong.
