Speaker Bio:
Hugo Duminil-Copin is Professor at the University of Geneva and Permanent Professor at the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques. His research explores the probabilistic foundations of mathematical physics, with a focus on phase transitions, percolation theory, and statistical mechanics. Awarded the Fields Medal in 2022, he was recognized for solving longstanding problems in the probabilistic theory of phase transitions, particularly in three and four dimensions. His work has significantly advanced the mathematical understanding of complex physical systems, including the Ising and Potts models and self-avoiding walks.
