Speaker Bio:
Matthew J. Colbrook is Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge. His research lies at the intersection of applied mathematics and data science, with a focus on spectral computation, neural networks, Koopman learning, optimization, inverse problems, and partial differential equations. His work develops rigorous algorithms for infinite-dimensional and data-driven problems, advancing both the theoretical foundations of computation and practical applications across mathematics, physics, and engineering. He is the recipient of the IMA Lighthill–Thwaites Prize, the SIAM Activity Group on Computational Science and Engineering Best Paper Prize, and Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics's Richard C. DiPrima Prize.
