UBC Ergodic Theory and Dynamical Systems Seminar: Huub de Jong

We introduce finitely presented (FP) dynamical systems: the class of invertible dynamical systems that admit a Markov partition. Using the symbolic coding of the system arising from such a Markov partition, we completely classify the sets of integers that occur as the set of periodic orbit lengths of FP systems.
