PIMS/WMAX Postdoctoral Colloquium: Parabolic systems with rough initial data

Details
Abstract: Studying non-smooth geometric objects is a very important and modern research topic in differential geometry and geometric analysis. In particular it is interesting to know to which extent these objects can be approximated by smooth ones.
In this talk I want to show how one can use geometric evolution equations with initial data given by the non-smooth objects in order to attack the above problem. This is a joint work with Herbert Koch (Bonn).
