Description:
Between July 2-July 31, the IRMACS Centre will host the first SFU Academic Summer Camp for Aboriginal Students. The main goal of the camp is to help Aboriginal students currently in grades 8-11 to accelerate in mathematics and English. In addition, this camp will offer the participants an opportunity to be exposed to the life of a university student.
We have accepted 25 students in the program. They will meet every weekday during the period at 9:00 am in the IRMACS Atrium and then they will continue with math and English classes in the two IRMACS Seminar Rooms, ASB 10940 and ASB 10908. In the afternoons the camp participants will be engaged in various activities including chemistry, physics, engineering, computing science, earth sciences, sports & recreation, cultural and special events.
