David Wood

David Wood has been Professor of Renewable Energy in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary since 2010. His main research area is wind turbine aerodynamics, but he has worked in wind and solar resource assessment, renewable energy system performance, and forecasting wind and solar energy. He is a Director of the Wind Energy Institute of Canada, is the editor for wind energy for Frontiers in Energy Research, and a theme leader for the Torque 2022 conference on wind energy. His knowledge of the practicalities of wind turbine and wind farm operation especially in terms of meteorological and power measurements, and the significance of wind resource assessment and forecasting will be valuable to the project. As an example, the recent work by Ghayuri and Wood studied nearly 10 years of wind farm power output and meteorological data and developed algorithms to remove outliers and other examples of spurious data.
