Topic:

Galois representations and deformations

Description:

Abstract:

Representations of the Galois group of the rationals abound in nature
and are important in understanding the structure of the Galois group of
the rational numbers. Iwasawa theory studies certain arithmetic modules
arising from such representations. Hida theory provides a technique to
package some of these representations in a family and study them
simultaneously. In this talk I will demonstrate the usefulness of this
technique in obtaining information on certain fundamental invariants
arising inIwasawa theory for such families and studying their variation
within a family.
