The Second Canadian Geometry & Topology Seminar
Details
Geometry and topology have been areas of excellence for mathematical research in Canada for many decades. This includes significant and on-going contributions in a diverse array of topics including low dimensional topology, geometric group theory, symplectic topology and geometry, homotopy theory, geometric topology, geometric analysis, algebraic geometry, etc. Soon after the summer 2015 staging of the highly successful PIMS Symposium on the Geometry and Topology of Manifolds, it was proposed that a pan-Canadian biennial workshop focused on geometry and topology be organised as a joint venture of the CRM, the Fields Institute, and PIMS. The first CGTS was held at the Fields Institute during March of 2018 and the second will be held at the Université du Québec à Montréal. Future venues will rotate around the country.
The main scientific goal is to showcase the most recent and significant contributions of Canadian connected geometry/topology researchers. Of equal importance is our intention of providing a venue for networking between researchers of all career stages and in particular to foster interactions between graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty with more senior researchers and each other.
