Description:

Process control engineers have been using time series models in a
variety of applications for many decades. In this presentation, a number
of approaches to linear and nonlinear dynamic models including recent
advances in application of Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulations will be
discussed. A variety of applications from oil & gas, pulp &
paper, and biotech/biomedical industries will be outlined. While the
theory and applications of these models have evolved over the years, a
number of challenges remain, especially in modeling processes with
sparse measured data. These challenges and potential avenues for
solutions will be addressed.
