Iterative regularization for inverse problems
After an introduction on Tikhonov regularization for linear inverse problems, we will encounter an example from inverse electromyography, where the classical Tikhonov method runs into numerical trouble. We will then look at an alternative approach, iterative regularization, and discuss how it is related to Tikhonov regularization. For the problem at hand, iterative regularization is shown to be at least an order of magnitude faster. Finally we will see how this method can also be applied to non-linear problems, and present a slightly novel iterative method which we apply to level set methods for inverse resistivity and potential problems.
