The Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences is pleased to welcome back Dr. Chris Soteros as the site director at PIMS’ University of Saskatchewan site. She first served as interim site director in 2012, and her current term began on November 1, 2015.

Soteros received her BSc from the University of Windsor in 1980, her PhD from Princeton University in 1987 and was a postdoctoral fellow in the Chemical Physics Theory Group at the University of Toronto from 1987-1989. She joined the faculty at the University of Saskatchewan in 1989.

Her research interests are in combinatorics with special emphasis on its connections with statistical physics. She has worked extensively on models of polymers and their enumeration, and more recently has focused on knotting and entanglement properties.

Soteros is a member of the organizing committee for the PIMS collaborative research group (CRG) on Applied Combinatorics.

PIMS would like to thank Dr. Raj Srinivasan for the many valuable contributions he made during his term as site director at the University of Saskatchewan.
