Workshop on Open Education Resources and Teaching Technologies in Mathematics
Details
This will be a meeting of experts and enthusiasts in undergraduate mathematics education, and open educational resources to exchange ideas, best practices, and teaching materials. The workshop will be a combination of presentations and hands-on activities focused on content creation and organization.
Specific activities could include:
• Curation and creation of WeBWorK problems.
• Curation of open educational resource textbooks in use at PIMS sites.
• Conversion of existing LATEXOER to PreTeXt (possibly with pre-workshop support from David Farmer at AIM).
• Creation of an Alberta version of the BCcampus Open Education repository.
• Development of Jupyter (Syzygy) as a teaching tool in calculus, linear algebra, and beyond.
• Planning the future of open textbooks: interactivity, portability, and personalization.
Among the outcomes above, the creation of a centralized OER repository for educators at Alberta universities is an especially desired outcome
