The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is happy to host the 2018 Canadian Math Kangaroo Contest.

Description: 

Registration Deadline: March 4, 2018

  • A reduced contest participation fee of $17 is available until
    February 18. After this date and until the deadline of March 4, the
    contest fee is $25.
  • Contest content is covered in the Province Math Curriculum. Problems
    require creativity, logical thinking or a different perspective. Herein
    lies the challenge.
  • The test can be written in English or in French.
  • Students compete in six grade categories:
    • Grade 1 and Grade 2;
    • Grade 3 and Grade 4;
    • Grade 5 and Grade 6;
    • Grade 7 and Grade 8;
    • Grade 9 and Grade 10;
    • Grade 11 and Grade 12;
  • The test for grades 1-2 consists of 18 multiple-choice questions,
    arranged in increasing difficulty, to be answered in 45 minutes. The
    test for grades 3-4 consists of 24 multiple-choice questions, arranged
    in increasing difficulty, to be answered in 60 minutes. The test for
    grades 5-12 consists of 30 multiple-choice questions, arranged in
    increasing difficulty, to be answered in 75 minutes.

Date: Sunday, March 18, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
