Michael Ward

Michael J. Ward is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of British Columbia and a member of the Institute for Applied Mathematics. He received his Ph.D. from Caltech in 1988, where his dissertation was awarded the William Carey Prize for the best dissertation in applied mathematics. His research lies at the interface of applied analysis, scientific computation, and mathematical modeling, with a particular focus on singular perturbation methods, reaction–diffusion systems, and applications to the life sciences. Professor Ward is the recipient of numerous honors, including the UBC Killam Research Prize, the André Aisenstadt Prize, and the Coxeter–James Prize. He has published extensively on nonlinear dynamics, pattern formation, and collective behavior in biological systems, and serves on the editorial boards of several leading journals.
