Syzygy
About Syzygy
The syzygy.ca service was launched as a partnership between PIMS, Compute Canada and Cybera in 2017. The service allows researchers and students at over 30 Canadian institutions to access the Jupyter ecosystem of tools with their existing institutional credentials. The service has been used by over 47000 people since its launch and is regularly used by thousands of people every day to help with their work and studies.
Syzygy uses resource allocations from Compute Canada and Cybera to provide the infrastructure to run our service. On top of this infrastructure PIMS created and manages a deployment system which allows us to create syzygy "instances" for the institutions we serve. We integrate the service with the authentication service of each institution which allows staff, students and faculty to just log in and start using Jupyter.
