THE WESTERN CANADA LINEAR ALGEBRA MEETING (W-CLAM), 2010.

TIME: Friday, May 7, evening, to Sunday, May 9, midday.

PLACE: Corbett Hall, Banff Centre, Alberta, Canada.

WCLAM is a biennial meeting organized by mathematicians of Western Canada. WCLAM 2010 will be the tenth such meeting and will take the form of two-day workshop in the program of the Banff International Research Station (BIRS) (see www.birs.ca) which is located in Corbett Hall on the campus of the Banff Centre, Banff, Alberta.

Linear algebra is an important area of mathematics and is at the heart of many scientific, engineering, and industrial applications. Research in linear algebra includes development of theory and the design of new and efficient algorithms; frequently in the context of specific areas of application.

The meeting provides an opportunity for researchers and mathematicians in linear algebra and its applications to meet, present accounts of their research, and to hold informal discussions. Young researchers (postdocs and graduate students) are encouraged to participate and may be eligible for financial assistance with subsistence and travel costs.

There is a conference fee of $50 (waived for postdocs and graduate students).

There will be plenary lectures by:

Shmuel Friedland, University of Illinois, USA.

Ilse Ipsen, University of North Carolina, USA.

Francoise Tisseur, University of Manchester, UK.

APPLICATIONS (together with proposals for 20/30 minute presentations or posters) are to be made at this website no later than 28th February, 2010. As accommodation is strictly limited early application is encouraged.
