Description: |
The PNWNTC
began at Reed College in 1997, and was held annually through 2007. After a hiatus, it resumed last year at
Simon Fraser University (program).
We aim to bring together number theorists from the northwestern United States
and Western Canada. The conference
will consist of invited talks which will run from Saturday morning until
midday on Sunday. |
Support: |
We are
grateful for the support of our sponsors: Microsoft Research, the Pacific
Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) and Western Washington University. |
Registration: |
Please
complete and return the registration and
funding request form by April 22, so that we can get an accurate count of
participants in advance of the conference.
There is no registration fee. |
Travel: |
Bellingham
is located on I-5 about 90 miles north of Seattle and about 83 km south of
Vancouver, B.C. We have a small
regional airport (BLI)
served by Alaska Airlines and Allegiant Air.
The closest large airports are Seattle-Tacoma (SEA) and Vancouver (YVR). You
can take a train or bus from either Seattle or Vancouver to Bellingham via Amtrak. There is also a shuttle from YVR to
BLI via Quick Coach. Hopefully participants will also
carpool. |
Lodging: |
The
deadline for the reserved block of rooms at the Best Western has passed. There are also several budget motels like
Motel 6 and Days Inn along Samish Way, which is close to WWU. Unfortunately there
is no on-campus housing available as school will still be in session. |
Getting to campus: |
You will most
likely want to drive to campus, as it is about a 2 mile walk from the Best
Western. Exit the Best Western onto
Lincoln Street, and follow Lincoln south to Samish Way. Take a right onto Samish Way, going across
I-5, then a left onto Bill McDonald Parkway.
Follow this for about a mile and it will take you right to the free
parking area (see below). If you do
want to walk, then the most direct route is to head west on Lakeway Drive
under the freeway, continuing along Holly Street (slight right), then left onto
Indian Street. You can follow Indian
Street southwest (and up the hill) all the way to campus. |
Parking: |
You can
park for free on Saturday and Sunday in the C lots on Bill McDonald Parkway at
the south end of campus (parking
map). On the same map, the talks
are located in the building numbered 42. |
