2014 Math Modelling in Industry: Workshops for Graduate students
- Start Date: 08/04/2014
- End Date: 08/15/2014
University of British Columbia
The Mathematical Modeling in Industry Workshop for Graduate Students is designed to provide graduate students and qualified advanced undergraduates with first-hand experience in industrial research.
Students work in teams of six or seven under the guidance of an industry mentor who helps the students model, analyze, and perform computational work associated with a real-world industrial problem. The mentor will help guide the students in the modeling process, analysis, and computational work associated with a real-world industrial problem.
A progress report from each team will also be scheduled during the period. In addition, each team will be expected to make an oral final presentation and submit a written report at the end of the workshop. Past projects have resulted in papers published in refereed scientific journals.
Location: UBC PIMS Building
Application Procedures: Application opens in the late spring 2014. More details will be provided on the IMA Webpage.
