ELMACON 2011 is on Saturday, April 30th. Registrations NOW OPEN!
This contest is organized by PIMS under the guidance of Dr. Cary Chien, Dr. Joshua Keshet and Dr. Klaus Hoechsmann (the PIMS Education Facilitator). ELMACON gives students from grades 5 to 7 a chance to experience mathematics as an exciting sport.
The contest is modeled after the successful MathCounts team competitions in the USA (which are also supported by PIMS through the University of Washington), with some important differences, since it is aimed at younger students, competing as individuals.
Students from each of grades 5, 6 and 7 will compete in separate divisions. Each division will enjoy three rounds of competition, as outlined below. The registration fee for elmacon is $20 (+HST).
Note: no calculators are allowed and there is a nominal registration fee
Please be sure to read the disclaimer, posted here.
