PIMS hosted a Math Mania at Science World (http://www.scienceworld.bc.ca/) on Oct. 26-27, 2007. Over 300 children of all ages took part in the mathematical games, puzzles and activities over the weekend.
Budding mathematicians (and their parents) enjoyed learning about all areas of mathematics in the world around them, including games such as the Monty Hall game, the penny game, the Set Game, the 'Game of 24', kaleidoscopes and hexaflexagons, Nim, Tower of Hanoi, the amazing sorting network and a number of other mathematical puzzles and paradoxes.
PIMS also provided parents with information on math activities and tutoring in the Lower Mainland.
This was PIMS' first Math Mania event at Science World. A very special thanks to Science World, and to all of the wonderful volunteers who made this event possible.
